The Relation between Science and Wilayat

In the Name of God

The entire world is travelling towards a certain direction from within. This journey begins from the appearance of the world. That which gives form to the world and moves it towards the true objective is wanting or desiring, but a desire that is not from outside this world. The journey of the world and its inhabitants towards an objective and a hidden indestructible reality that cannot be defined is not like that of a traveller that moves from one city to another, but rather like a child that matures. Such a person does not travel from one place to another, but matures from an inferior self to a higher one.
 Verily, the world needs a secret and an infinite source of knowledge in its journey towards maturity. In order for these requirements and superior thoughts to be achieved and for the world to mature in a fruitful manner, a pure infinite jewel is necessary.
The world should know that if it wishes to remain safe from the unpleasant inner events on its way towards attaining this maturity, the only relationship it should have is with knowledge. However, what kind of knowledge is this which, according to the words of our Infallible Imams, begging for it is compulsory and is honourable and superior? Knowledge that guides us towards God, that which causes the true reality of the basis foundation of the world, i.e. Nabuwat (prophethood), Wilayat (guardianship of Imam Ali [AS] and our Infallible Imams until our twelfth Imam, Hazrat Mahdi) and Ismat (infallible wisdom of Hazrat Fatima Zahra) to be manifested from within and that which is a reflection of God.
 Technologies, the science of literature, physics, chemistry, mathematics are all doubtful about their own genuineness. Kant says in this regard that science is always dubious about its own foundations and confirms the possibility of its own errors. Anvar Khamei, who was a researcher and philosopher, believed that in fact science is not able to preserve itself. He said that science has made developments and has helped to advance its surroundings as well, but has caused humans to decline and their beliefs to become unstable.

 We consider true science to be the words of our Infallible Imams. This is why the words and narrations of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) are still alive after over 1400 years. Nahjal Balaqa of Imam Ali (AS) (his words and sermons) is still alive. In fact these are instances of true science. Therefore, one should attempt to find a source that gives eternal life to its owner; a science that causes closeness to the most exalted science, i.e. Wilayat because the entire world is connected to Wilayat. The seen and the unseen are related to Wilayat. In other words, the land, sky, your body, blood, bones, veins and skull are connected to Wilayat. The greatness of anything depends on its Wilayat. In other words, science that is not accompanied with Wilayat has no greatness. The entire world is connected to Wilayat through an attractive force. In Wilayat the main principle is knowledge and science.
 Verily, the centre of the entire world is Wilayat. Mere utterance of the word "Wilayat" without understanding its true meaning is like a breeze that blows and passes by. However, if Wilayat exists in our blood, skin and brain and is combined with knowledge and science, that Wilayat and knowledge will both become fundamental principles. Such Wilayat becomes like the breeze which causes buds to open just as the buds of the flowers do not open up with light or heat in the morning but rather with the breeze. Wilayat that is hidden in the seen and unseen worlds is like the breeze but the bud should not remain hidden from the breeze and should present itself to the breeze. Knowledge and science resemble such breeze and the bud will open only if the breeze of knowledge and science blows. All the hearts of humans lie in the bud of Wilayat. Be aware that all that exists for humanity and for humans is in the bud of Wilayat and needs to open for its scents to spread. They need to open for them to be beautiful and display themselves. This bud will open when the breeze of knowledge and science is combined with Willayat since knowledge and science are nothing without Wilayat and Wilayat is also nothing without knowledge and science. Therefore, the essence of this perfection is clutching at the string of Wilayat and divine wisdom such that if Wilayat is not intermingled with science and knowledge and vice versa, the bud will remain in the same state and not develop.

Do not, by any means, imagine that Wilayat has not entered the hearts, since if the Wilayat of our Mawla, the centre of the entire universe, Amir-al-Momeneen Ali (A.S.), son of Abi Taleb, does not enter the hearts, nothing will flourish in the world. This is because all the hearts of the world are filled with the buds of Wilayat: black heart, white heart, the heart of the disbeliever, the heart of the believer, the heart of the westerner, the heart of the easterner, the heart of the European or of one living in the Middle East, the heart of inhabitants of other planets, the heart of trees and of buds, the essence of flowers and of scents, their sweet smell  is when their  science and knowledge is absorbed in Wilayat. However, if Wilayat exists without science and knowledge, it will not have scent, colour, effect or beauty, such that the bud will be of no use if there is no science and knowledge. If there were no morning breeze to unwind the twirled flower bud, our eyes would not be attracted by the flower. Thus that knowledge and science which reflects Wilayat is fundamental.
Ostad Seyyed Ali Mousavi, esteemed philosopher, states: Our work is exactly similar; our interpretation (Tafsir) and philosophy lesson CDs which your ears are exposed to are for causing this Transcendental Philosophy of Wilayat to flourish and this is only possible by virtue of science and knowledge. The opposite way is through strict fanaticism which derails one from the true path of Wilayat.

 You have to be an analyser and researcher of science! One who is really excellent at research of scientific material, should be able to get to the heart of science, comprehend and analyse and leave behind superior and worthwhile effects. What honour is there greater than this? Scholars like Mohammad Ibn Yaqub Koleini, Zarareh Ibn A’yon, Hosham Ibn Hakam, Ibn Qatibeh, Abu Reyhan and hundreds of other religious women and men, and especially those who have rendered great scientific and religious services, all have entered into Wilayat and Islam and thus been a cause of both tranquillity and furthering science and knowledge.
In every corner of the writings and pure books of the esteemed philosopher, he who is genuine can comprehend that Ostad has devoted his eyes and thoughts and life to these words so that the hearts flourish and enlighten. These wordings are not related to the past or the present but rather are timeless just like Wilayat is eternal. The name and personality of Imam Ali (A.S.) are eternal and as can be observed, the essence of the words which is pure science and pure knowledge and genuine illumination and perfection is poured into the container of the hearts of the people of the world so that their hearts are enlightened and reach the truth. Hearts soften and become full of loves and affection and this occurs only when those wordings poured into the container of the hearts change into light and brightness by heat produced in the furnace of Wilayat and divine wisdom of Fatima Zahra (A.S.). In other words, the ocean of inner science and knowledge should be filled with the gems of Wilayat and no more!
