In the Name of Allah
The
Virtues of Fatimah Zahra (SA) according to Nasir al-Din Tusi
The
booklet "Magnificence of Fatimah Zahra (SA)" includes:
-
the greatness of Fatimah (SA) before Allah,
-
the greatness of Fatimah (SA) in sciences,
-
the marriage of Fatimah (SA), and
-
Fatimah's favor upon companions,
parts of which will be presented here.
Some of the points Nasir al-Din Tusi writes about the virtues of
Fatimah Zahra (SA) are brought here:
Nasir al-Din Tusi says, "Fatimah (SA) is the
Asma-ul-Husna
(Names and Attributes) of Almighty Allah."
He says, "The secrets of God mean Fatimah (SA)."
Nasir al-Din Tusi says, "After Almighty Allah, the first face which
appeared was that of Fatimah Zahra (SA)." In other words, God wanted to
see His love and therefore bestowed His favor upon the Ismat of
Fatimah (SA).
"She
is the secret of Allah, the word of Allah, the cause of all causes, the
cause of this world and the path of those Allah grants His blessing to."
The
word "path", which we use in our
daily prayers, Sirat al-ladhina
anamta alayhim (The
way of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy Grace),
this blessing is the blessing of Fatimah
Zahra (SA).
When we say before our daily prayers, "Hayi
ala khair il-amal (Hasten
towards the best of deeds)" what
we mean by "the best of deeds" is finding the Ismat of Fatimah
(SA).
Nasir al-Din Tusi says: I heard from Imam Sadiq (AS), when he was
talking about the greatness of Fatimah (SA) that he said, "She
is the second Mohammad (PBUH)."
(These statements are so precious that they should be written
with gold in order for them to survive).
Imam Hussein (AS) says: If extreme grace and virtue are manifested on
earth, and the entire world becomes nothing but beauty, the origin of
all beauties in the world is my mother, Fatimah (AS).
He then adds: God presented the greatness of Fatimah (SA) upon the
entire world, the prophets, messengers, imams, His great men and Prophet
Mohammad.
In other words, God told all the above: I created you for you to know My
Fatimah and to know who she is. God even told this to Prophet Mohammad
(PBUH). This is why the Prophet says: Fatimah has a position which no
one is aware of except: 1. the Creator of Fatimah (SA), 2. me, the
father of Fatimah (SA), and 3. Ali, the husband of Fatimah (SA).
Only the above three sources know Fatimah (SA). Others only utter her
name but are not aware of who she truly is. You should know this with
complete certainty. But when will others find out her true position? On
Qiyamat (the Day of Resurrection), when everyone is confused they
will see Fatimah (SA) saying:
O
God! You promised me that You would forgive them.
It is only then when they will comprehend how magnificent Fatimah (SA)
is.
The Marriage of Fatimah Zahra (SA)
We
will now discuss the marriage of Fatimah Zahra (SA) in brief.
Two
issues are of value for us on the wedding of Fatimah (SA):
·
The first issue: The time of her wedding
·
The second issue: Her physique and age.
(Professor Mosavi: I have researched a lot but have not found much on
the above two issues. I pleaded to her to bestow her favor upon me so
that I would be able to explain these issues to you.)
A lot of people ask with criticism: How could a nine year old girl get
married? If we accept that Hazrat Fatimah (SA) got married when she was
nine, Imam Hassan (AS) would have to be born when she was ten and Imam
Hossein a few months later. In other words, Fatimah (SA) would have had
two children before she was eleven.
The above is not compatible with the facts about physical organism and
women's bodies. This is a fact. Unless one says it was a miracle.
Miracles are true and exist but where necessary. In this case, there was
no requirement to manifest a miracle.
The
Time of the Wedding of Fatimah (SA)
There
are many views on the time of the wedding of Fatimah (SA).
-
Some say she was married to Imam Ali (AS)
at the age of nine, two years after
Hijrah. They say she was married 6028 years after the descent
of Adam from Heaven. They say the month of her marriage was Rajab
(either first or fifteenth or last day of Rajab). This is the
viewpoint of many scholars.
-
Sheikh Mufid and Ibn Tawus say she was married
three years after Hijrah, on the night
before a Thursday and on twenty-first of Muharram.
-
Some say her wedding was after the Battle of Badr, which was
two years after Hijrah.
-
Some say: Fatimah (SA) was married after the wedding of Roghayeh,
Rasulullah's daughter, and was on the
first, fifteenth or end of Shawal.
-
Some say: The wedding sermon of Fatimah
(SA) was on Tuesday, sixth of
Dhul-Hijjah.
-
Some say: She was married on the
twelfth day of the holy month of Ramadan, two years after Hijrah.
-
Only one group say: Fatimah (SA) was eighteen when she got married.
But besides this group, others have all written she was nine but the
dates are different.
The
viewpoint of Dr. Seyyed Ali Mosavi:
If we want to give our opinion here, it is more favorable to say:
Eighteen years, which some have said does not sound correct and nine
years seems more incorrect.
It
seems more correct if we say: The marriage of Fatimah (SA) was when she
was between fourteen to fifteen years old.
We do not have any historical evidence for what we said. I have said
this of my own. Some said she was nine and a group said she was eighteen
when she got married, but a girl who
lives in hot climate, from the age of thirteen until sixteen all her
physical powers are at a perfect level for having of a child, this is a
rule. If we discuss this
issue with physicians in this field, they will confirm that the body of
a girl from the age of thirteen grows in a way, which causes her to
gradually become ready to have a child. But which part of her grows? Her
feelings, internal organs, bones and veins and all these make her ready
to have a child. I am talking in general, since here is not the place to
further elaborate on this issue.
Scientifically, throughout history most prominent scholars in the
world have been born to mothers of ages of fourteen to fifteen.
If you look at the lives of religious leaders or inventors, you will
see that a lot of them were born to mothers of ages of fourteen, fifteen
or sixteen.
Since Fatimah (SA) is a sea of Ismat, she has to fill this sea with the
gem of Wilayat. She has to fill this sea with pearls and corals;
therefore, she has to be at the most sensitive age.
If she were nine, she would surely have had a miscarriage,
there is no doubt about this.
If she were eleven she would have certainly had a miscarriage. If she
were twelve, maybe she would have had a miscarriage and maybe her child
would live. But from the age of thirteen onwards her body would be
ready for development of a child and as she is the mother of the
world and in addition:
Fatimah
(SA) is not only the mother of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Hussein (AS)
but the mother of Imam Zaman (AS).
Such
a mother should be at the most sensitive age to carry a child. This
sensitive age has to either be fourteen, better if it is fifteen and its
climax is sixteen.
Zeynab (SA), the daughter of Fatimah (SA), in spite of being a woman,
had one hand to the sky and another to the Earth; she preserved both. In
other words, she had one hand to the Earth and another to her brother's
sons. Zeynab should have certainly been born at an age when her mother's
essence was perfected in all aspects. Therefore, it is better to say
that the wedding of Fatimah (SA) was at the ages mentioned above.
Prophet
Mohammad's Response to other Suitor's of Fatimah Zahra (SA)
Firstly it should be mentioned that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) would tell
Fatimah's suitors:
My Zahra's affair is left to Allah.
God will order when Fatimah will wed. I am not allowed to accept your
request.
Ali (AS) asking for the hand of Fatimah (SA)
Prophet
Mohammad (PBUH) was sitting at home. Ali (AS) changed the clothes he was
wearing at work. Ali (AS) knocked on the door of Prophet Mohammad. Umme
Salma said:
Who is the person knocking on the door?
They saw that Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) got up, wore his formal clothes
and said, "Umme Salma, open the door, it is my brother, my cousin, my
life, my soul, my Ali!
Rasulullah opened the door. Ali (AS) entered. He hugged Ali, greeted
and welcomed him.
The Prophet asked: What brings you here, my dear Ali?
Ali (AS) said: "O Rasulullah, I was a child when you awarded me with
your good nature and temper. I have been brought up in your school. O
Rasulullah, I need a wife. If I am allowed may I ask you to give Fatimah
to me in marriage …?"
As soon as Ali said this sentence, Rasulullah closed his eyes for a few
moments and then said after opening his eyes:
Be
glad that you and Fatimah were tied in matrimonial alliance by God
before you and me. Before I give Fatimah to you in marriage on Earth,
God has given her to you in marriage.
God Himself has been involved in this marriage.
(Such
a thing has never happened in the seeable or unseeable worlds. None of
the women such as Maryam, Asieh and Rabia and those whose names have
been mentioned in Holy Quran had such a position.)
Ali
(AS) asked:
O Rasulullah how is it that Fatimah and I were tied in matrimonial
alliance by God?
Prophet Mohammad replied: An angel is sitting here whom I have not seen
before.
This angel came to me and said:
O
Ahmad, give glad tidings to Ali as we have united two pure generations
together.
This
means: We have united the veins of Ali
(AS) with those of Fatimah (SA) and Ali's Wilayat with Fatimah's Ismat.
Then
the angel added: First give tidings to Fatimah and then to Ali, Gabriel
is coming!
At this time Gabriel came and Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) stood up. Gabriel
sat between Ali and Rasulullah. Then Gabriel gave a cloth to Rasulullah.
The Prophet asked: What is this?
A voice replied: O Rasulullah! This is the silk cloth, which Allah
ordered me to take from the Heaven of the Shiites of Ali (AS) and these
words are written on it:
We have wed the minister of Ahmad, the
brother of Ahmad, the Imam of Ahmad, the successor of Ahmad.
O
Ahmad, we have united Fatimah and Ali, who is your cousin, but in
generation the heart of Ali is the heart of Ahmad.
O
Rasulullah, in celebration of this wedding, God ordered Heaven to be
ornamented and for this ornament to remain until Fatimah's Shiites come
to Heaven. He also ordered the Tuba tree to be ornamented with pearls or
to ornament the leaves and branches of Sadrat-al-Muntaha (a tree in
Heaven) and for the angels to all gather in the fourth Heaven near
Al-Bait Al-Ma'mour. Angels erected the Minbar of Honor. Then Allah gave
Rahil, the most eloquent of all angels, the permission for preaching the
marriage sermon of Fatimah (SA).
This was a drop of the ocean of researches by
Dr Seyyed Ali Mosavi on the
greatness and magnificence of Fatimah Zahra (SA)
